Alaaddin Uslu first came to Slovakia through an Erasmus programme and is currently studying Central European Studies at Comenius University. Since moving to Bratislava in 2017, he has been actively volunteering with the civic organisation Spoločná cesta o.z. (Common Journey), aiming to unite people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds who live side by side in today’s Slovakia. Spoločná cesta o.z. is guided by three key principles: education, culture, and dialogue.
The organisation participates in festivals, organises seminars, and holds panel discussions on various topics such as the role of women in different parts of the world, environmental awareness, and journalists’ importance in modern democracies. Additionally, they collaborate with other NGOs and faith communities, hosting public events that celebrate holidays like Ramadan, Pesach, and Easter. Through these activities, Alaaddin and Spoločná cesta o.z. strive to foster mutual understanding and build a more inclusive society.
