“A World of Neighbors invites you to a practitioners’ meeting on 20-21 August during the ecumenical week in Stockholm!
In connection with the Migration Days in March, a few of us gathered in the Stockholm mosque and decided to start the A World of Neighbors network as a local network in Sweden under the organization A World of Neighbors. The idea is that we, across religious boundaries, will support each other in the work on migration and integration by sharing information and meeting digitally and physically. It is not a new organization, but an opportunity to quickly mobilize, collaborate and get hold of each other when needed.
We want to meet to share visions, thoughts and structure for such a network and therefore are inviting you to a meeting in Stockholm on August 20-21, 2025. AWoN’s Director Rikko Voorberg, former Church of Sweden and AWoN’s initiator Antje Jackelén, Azza Karam and others from A World of Neighbours will also be participating in the ecumenical week, which, on August 21, has a special focus on interreligious cooperation.
Program
- August 20th
1:00pm – 5:00pm (location to be announced): We will get to know each other and work on the vision and goals for the Swedish network.
5:00pm – 7:00pm: We will be having dinner with international guests with a presentation of A World of Neighbours and discussing about expectations for the Swedish network.
- August 21st
We will be participating in various seminars during the day that are part of the Ecumenical Week and then going together to the panel discussion that A World of Neighbours is holding. In the evening, we will have the opportunity to listen to Azza Karam and participate in an interreligious gathering to which everyone is invited.
It is important to be able to meet in a time where issues and decisions around migrations are changing rapidly and we hope that as many people as possible can join us. We are unable to pay for travel expenses and accommodation, but there are several of us who can offer a room in our homes for visitors. We would like to know if you can come, if you need help with overnight accommodation in someone’s home and if you can join us for dinner on 20/8 with A world of Neighbours.
