Opening a new chapter for AWoN

This month marks the beginning of a new chapter for A World of Neighbours. Since May 1st, Aude Sathoud and Tudor Rosu have jointly taken over the leadership of A World of Neighbours as Co-Directors - a combination of talent, experience and perspective that AWoN’s Board was proud to entrust with the ambitious mission of strengthening and growing the organization while preserving its unique human richness.

You already know Aude well – a participant in AWoN’s first practitioners’ cohorts (Home-Groups pilot at the time of AWoN’s launch as a programme of the Church of Sweden), Aude has worked as a Project Coordinator and Advocacy Manager in organisations supporting people on the move in Athens and Paris. Migrations, diasporic experiences and postcolonial politics are at the core of their work as a researcher too. As the person behind our communications and fundraising, they have helped shape who we are over the past years.

Tudor is joining from outside, but not from far: with fifteen years in the non-profit sector – including at the Hungarian Helsinki Committee – and a background spanning fundraising and migration practice, Tudor has witnessed the evolutions of European migration and human rights politics on the ground, from the 2015 crisis and solidarity response in Budapest to the flight and welcome of Ukrainian refugees in 2022. Tudor’s path and person are deeply aligned with AWoN’s mission and values, and his rich experience and fresh perspective will be much cherished in this new phase of our development.

Rikko Voorberg will remain connected to the network: up until the 1st of July 2026 as Senior Advisor to ensure a smooth transition, and afterwards as a network member. We are grateful for the years in which AWoN, under his leadership, transitioned from a project of the Church of Sweden in cooperation with Islamic Relief, HIAS, and LWF, to an independent organisation.

We look forward to all that is to come – and thank you all for being part of this journey towards a World of Neighbours.
