Rikko Voorberg

Rikko Voorberg, is a theologian, artist and activist currently serving as director of A World of Neighbours. He lives with his wife and two children in Amsterdam. Early on in his career he started working with all forms of art to bring religion into the public space. Since 2013 he has been the artistic leader of Popupwerk. He writes columns for various papers, runs podcasts and is a frequent speaker at events and institutions.

Rikko Voorberg is actively involved with migration issues, and is involved with the setting up of different projects that take responsibility for the suffering that is caused by political systems. He co-founded Vluchtkerk, a church organization in Amsterdam that supports refugees whose applications have been denied and he is the founder of Walk of Shame EU, bringing groups of people in Europe to the borders to be with people on the move, extend compassion and exchange humanhood.

As a theologian, he advocates for more outrage for unjustice. Rikko Voorberg was elected the Amsterdammer of the year 2023.
