Originally from Congo, Rouddy arrived in Greece in June 2017 after fleeing his home country. The difficult living conditions in Moria Camp in Lesvos deeply affected him, causing him great distress. A few months later, he found solace and purpose by volunteering, teaching computer science to fellow refugees—a subject in which he was educated. This opportunity brought him immense joy as he felt useful to others.
Rouddy decided to combine his two passions: music and volunteering. He founded “RAD Music International ” on the International World Refugee Day 2018, in Lesvos. The name reflects the words that define him: Refugee, African, Dance, and Music International .
Through “RAD Music International,” Rouddy aims to build bridges with the local community by regularly organizing music events in Mytilene, often featuring local artists.
In December 2021 RAD became an official cultural club connecting locals, refugees and volunteers from all over Europe. With the outstanding support from the Safe Passage Fund, RAD was able to open a Cultural Center in the heart of Mytilini, to provide support to people and to build the bridge between the host community, local and international community. The center has had a big impact on the island.
In 2023, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) established a global partnership program with refugee-led organizations (RLOs), providing small direct grants contributing to their capacity development. RAD Music International is one of five RLOs in Greece.
