Once again this year, AWoN’s Summit was the occasion of the renewal of the Board, with the election of four new members for a two-year term running until September 2027.
We warmly welcome Maura James, Mousumi Saikia, Rouddy Kimpioka and Tuija Samila, who are joining Zoé Balkrishnan, Alaaddin Uslu and Nejra Kadić Meškić, elected last year and entering the second part of their term. This new, diverse and enthusiastic Board will be chaired by Maria Kjellsdotter Rydinger and soon gather to set the priorities of the Network for the months to come, based on the General Assembly’s discussions in Poland.
Meet Tuija!
Tuija Samila is currently working as Coordinator for mission and international work for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leppävaara parish (Finland), whose main task she describes as ‘building a welcoming community around us’.
A few words as new Board member
‘Hi Everybody!
I am honoured to be elected to the AWoN board for the first time. AWoN is close to my heart. Have been involved with AWON for a long time and participated in the first Cohort. With Sabina Esp, we created the current Homegroups. In past years, I have been part of the Annual Summit team – every year it is an exciting journey. On the AWoN board, I would like to promote the values and the tradition of AWoN.
How does conviviality become real in our everyday life? Migrants, people on the move, for various reasons, are part of our community here and overseas.’
Welcome and thank you, Tuija!
